Leave Surabaya around midnight, watch the sunrise from Gunung Penanjakan, then hike from the Sand Sea to the top of Mt. Bromo—horses are available for an additional fee. After breakfast, visit the Madakaripura Waterfall or catch 40 winks as you drive back.

Mount Bromo is an active volcano and part of the Tengger massif, in East Java, Indonesia. At 2,329 meters (7,641 ft) it is not the highest peak of the massif but is the most well known. The massif area is one of the most visited tourist attractions in East Java, Indonesia. The volcano belongs to the Bromo Tengger Semeru National Park. The name of Bromo derived from the Javanese pronunciation of Brahma, the Hindu creator god. The Tenggereses are climbing once a year the Mount Bromo for the Kasada which is a popular ritual to celebrate their ancestors, and the Temple compound located on the foot of Mt Bromo. 

Mount Bromo sits in the middle of a vast plain called the "Sea of Sand" a protected nature reserve since 1919. The typical way to visit Mount Bromo is from the nearby mountain village of Cemoro Lawang and continued to Mount Bromo by a four wheel drive ( Jeep), take  the horse ride to the rim of the crater  then proceed by foot and climb the steps approximately more than 240 steps to the lip of the Mt Bromo crater for a closer viewing. Mount Bromo stands in  a sea of ashen, volcanic sand, surrounded by the towering cliff of the crater’s edge. The immense size of the crater, the supernatural beauty of the scenery, is really something very special indeed.  

Re-board to 4WD Jeep for driving to Restaurant for your lunch. After lunch, back to the your Jeep and drive back to Cemoro Lawang and take a toilet break before heading back to the Port.
